The plastics industry aims to reach approximately USD21.11 billion in consumption and USD19.75 billion in production by the fiscal year 2047-48, while creating 9.25 lakh jobs.

The plan focuses on advancing technology, promoting collaboration between industry and academia, facilitating skill development, encouraging R&D, and proposing a dedicated ministry to support innovation. A key initiative is the development of BioPlastics through international partnerships.
